He was born on September 12, 1914 in Kroměříž. Father Otmar worked as a nurse in a mental hospital and mother Anna ( Hradilová) was a housewife. He had three siblings.

He attended a general school and three middle school classes in Kroměříž. In 1928, he began an apprenticeship with the company Baťa in Zlín, where he remained employed afterwards.

Between 1936 and 1939, he performed basic military service in Kroměříž, during which he graduated from non-commissioned officer school. He was discharged with the rank of corporal. From July 1939, he joined the Baťa company again. He worked for a short time in the Yugoslav branch of Bata in Borovo, from where he was supposed to continue to the Belgian Congo in the position of branch manager. The departure delayed the start of the war. He did not return home and entered the Czechoslovak Republic. foreign armies in France.

On 27 December 1939, he was presented in Agde and assigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment. With the unit, he took part in the battles at the front and after the fall of France, he went to England on July 13, 1940. Here he was reassigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment with the rank of sergeant. In January 1941, due to its inconspicuous appearance, it was selected for training to perform special tasks.

In January and February 1941, he completed parachute training. After that, he began to prepare for deployment to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

It was intended for Operation Benjamin.

After war
From June 11, 1945 to September 1, 1946, he worked in the 2nd department of the MNO main staff. He left there at his own request and returned to the Baťa company. He worked here until 1948, after 1948 he remained with the nationalized company as a store manager. From 1952 until his retirement in 1970, he worked as a manager of the n.p. Textil Gottwaldov department store.

On October 16, 1990, he was appointed lieutenant colonel in the reserve. He died on October 10, 1994 in Holešov.
